While I was walking home yesterday in this cold, slush, and snow, I was unfortunately hit by a tidalwave of slush from a bus!! How rude. No, I do not blame the bus driver. I was having a bad enough day as it was. I am always taking the hit for my friends... I jump infront of them when the bus comes... so that they do not get hit. Okay, that was a joke. But it has actually happened once or twice. After getting hit by the slush, the day went even more downhill then it already had.
I lost twenty dollars earlier in the day, so I couldnt buy tickets for the stupid bus! Having a spare first period, I woke up late and had to rush to school, which was when I lost my $20! Because I had no time for breakfast, during 2nd period I was dying for lunch to come. With my stomach grumbling and rumbling I quickly made my way to Mr. Sub. But guess what? I had no money. Luckily, my friends pitched in for me so I would not starve to death. Thanks guys.
After getting home at the end of the day, soaking wet from the slush of that bus, I changed into my pajamas and cuddled into bed for a nap. It was then that I had a very bad dream about a killer bus. It had mechanical arms and crazy teeth, and guess what it was holding in its hand? MY TWENTY DOLLARS! That stupid bus is out to get me.
Hoping to have a better tomorrow, I set my alarm extra early so I can buy my bus tickets and catch that damn bus.
Thank you for reading.

Best and Worst Jobs in the U.S.
The Wall Street Journal set out about the top 181 jobs in the United States. They stated amoung the top 20 and the worst 20. The criteria was based on environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands and stress, which in my opinion pretty much sum up what would make a good job. Something that Iwould have added would be like self-satisfaction or something, though, becuase that is an important part of a job as well.
I was really shocked when I saw that the top spot was mathmetician. I mean what exactly is a mathmetician, what do they do?? I may research that after I am done this blog. Anyway, mathmeticians are apparently generally happiest with their job and the work conditions are very satisfying. Other jobs which were on the top 20 that I found interesting were Accountant (this is easy to beleive because my cousin is an accountant and she LOVES it!), Software Engineer, Industrial Designer, Parole Officer, Meteorologist, Paralegal Assistant and Motion Picture Editor.
The last on the list was Brick Layer which is the worst job in America. Others in the list were firefighter, Nuclear Decontamination Tech (whatever that is), Taxi Driver, Lumberjack, Construction Worker, mail Carriers, and Butchers.

Athiest Bus
I am not sure if any of you guys have heard about this or not, but there was some news about some British buses containing athiest messags on them claiming there is no God. One of them read "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy yourself". It was originally a campaign that wished to recieve $ 5,000 for donations, but they have recieved over $ 140,000 (pounds). This message has appeared on over 200 buses in the capital. Advertisements for this are also running in Spain and the U.S. Will Canada be next?
Freedom of speech is part of our rights. But is this going too far? Will the government intervene? I'm not exactly sure about the government, but I know that churches, mosques, sinnagogs and perhaps other places of worship may get worked up over this.
I do not really have an opinion on this. For one, I am not VERY religious, and it is not like anyone is trying to "convert" me to become an athiest. I beleive in God. Secondly, it is not a problem regarding Canada. Also, if people have a strong faith and are very religious, they do not need to let a silly banner question their beliefs. They do not need to worry what this says becuase they know that they will keep on believing. However, this could and probably is offending many people.
One of the main reasons in creating these buses was to "spark a conversation" about this topic, which is a very sensitive one. Also, it was created to "reassure" people that there is nothing wrong with NOT believing in God.
There is also a new DVD which has been released called, "The God who wasnt there", which "lays out the case that Jesus Christ never existed". I do not have alot of info about this but if anyone does please share.

Movies through the breaakk
I watched quite a few movies during the break. Some new, some old. When i was bored, I would just put on a movie so it would keep me busy for an hour or two. I borrowed some from friends as well as bought some on boxing day (Walmart... 2 for $15!).
The first movie I watched in theatres was Seven Pounds. The reviews for this movie were generally good. It was one of those movies that didnt have a lot of commercials on TV.... for a reason. It is mostly the mystery of the movie that brings people to watch it. There were posters all over the TTC, but rarely any on television. So people want to know, whats all the fuss about? I watched an interview on Oprah about it as well, and they did not reveal much. Will Smith said it was a heartwarming movie and everyone would enjoy it. For those who havent seen it yet, it is one of those movies in which the mystery unravels throughout the movie, so you basically have no background information on the context or reasons for anything which is happening. The final "point" is made at the end, which is when the whole movie clicked in for me. My friend got it right in the first 20 minutes, and though I envied her for being able to do so, I kind of enjoyed the fact that I got it at the end. This is because it creates suspense throughout the movie. Anyway, it was a really sweet movie and very very sad. It was worth the watch.
I also watched Valkyrie. This movie was two hours, and very interesting. The theatre was CRAMMED and I got oneof the worst possible seats. But it was a very good movie for history buffs, but not a great one to watch on a Friday night when you are trying to kill time. It takes depth to enjoy it, and perhaps some background information on operation Valkyrie.
I also finally watched Pineapple Express. I thought it was hilarious. I laughed so hard I cried, and then some. It is one of those movies that have the stupid but funny type of humour. The story was absoltuely ridiculous, the language was foul, the content was far from PG... and I loved it ! :)

Welcome '09
It is a new year and we must ask ourselves: what exactly did we accomplish last year? It went by faster than I can remember... yet I can remember it. I remember the beginning of the year, how I promised myself that I would get a lot done that year. Grade 11 breezed by, and summer came. This summer was probably the laziest one i ever had. I quit my job before the summer, and never got another one. So I spent the summer hanging out with friends mostly. Then school started and now... here we are.
I actually want to make this year the best ever. I am turning eighteen and that is a pretty big step in my view. Some may say it is the beginning of the end. I can .... get into R rated movies.... and .... vote. Okay, so you can do a lot more at 19. But I still think this is going to be a fun year.
It is also the year that we start a completely new path: University/College. The next four years are going to be very different from the last four years. The environemnt, the people, the experiences. They are all going to be incredidably different and I am excited but scared at the same time. I am going to miss high school but I think if we were all hear for one more year, we would get sick of it. I'm not sure if I am ready for the university life... but it is going to be an interesting journey.
Hopefully all goes well fro 2009. I am going to try to do a lot more this year, so that at the end of the year, when I ask myself what I have accomplished, I would actually have something to be proud of!

Winter Break
This Winter Break was the most relaxing I have ever had. Yes, I was bombarded with homework, but laziness came over me. I found that I was going to sleep at like 4 in the morning everyday and waking up the next day at 2. I know this is the worst kind of schedule to ever have. But school has started again so my sleeping patterns are starting to become somewhat normal.
For Christmas my family went over to my cousins house in Mississauga and we stayed there for about three days. Boxing day was absolutely insane. People were going crazy and I swear there werent even that many good deals. My cousin drove us to stores and parking was impossible! You have to walk like ten minutes to the stores... we got the worst possible space. And thefunniest part is the shopping complex that we went to was in like the middle of no where.. so you would not expect that many people to be there. It took us about an hour to arrive back. But it was a nice break spent with family.
When I came back, I tried to work on all of my projects. I'm still not done, though. Fortunately, none of them were due the first day back.
Something that stressed me out during the winter break was applying for university. I finally went on the website, and it is very very simple. But chosing programs are the hardest part. Not the process on the site- thats easy. It is mostly picking programs that are right for you and there are a variety of them.
Anyway, we are back at school and it feels like we never left. The break went by way too fast!
